Ferrari 250 GT California #16 (Grossman/Tavano) at the Le Mans. Image taken during the race. Looks like some engine problems.... Does anybody know the story behind the photo? Which technical promlems with engine there were with 1451 GT during the race?

No technical engine problem during the race, but the car has been delayed twice :

At the first pit stop when Fernand Tavano took over from Bob Grossmann, the refuelling was done too quickly, and 3 to 4 gallons were shortshipped, and Fernand went short of fuel at Arnage on the last lap of his relay and succeed to join his pit very slowly with the starter's help.

Other problem during the night, still Fernand at the wheel, when the lights went off at the beggining of Mulsanne straight. This problem occured again after a first pit stop and 15' where lost to solve it.

Altogether, according some witnesses, the four laps missing to Bob and Fernand to win the GT class were lost during these incidents.
Nevertheless, they finished 5th overall, for both of us their best result at Le Mans.
