certificat de conformite communautaire

Sorry to write in English but my command of the French language is not good enought to write well yet.

I have just moved to France with my Mercedes 1980 450 SLC and I have been told I need a certificat de conformite communautaire to get a carte gris. Where could I get one from? also can anyone explain what is a carte gris de collection please.

You can see first at these adresses :
unfortunatly these are in french...
But since the October 1st 2002, you can register your vehicule directly at your departement prefecture... not to the departement DRIRE !
Every vehicule, if this car was bought in the EEC, had a certificat, provide by the manufacturer (Mercedes Benz for this car).
If you don't have this - you do ask to Mercedes Benz...
But since the October 1st 2002 - it seems that you can register your car because this car was registered first in UK ...
(gosh ! it's not a joke UK is in EEC !...)
